Cruise Moab, brought to you by Rising Sun 4WD Club

Area BFE tour

A group of Cruise Moab organizers camped at Area BFE in October 2009. Here are some pictures.

Here's the view driving into Area BFE:

The entrance...

The list of trails, all named after legendary punk bands. Britney Spears is actually an insanely difficult trail. Green Day and Minor Threat are both fine for moderately modified vehicles. The central road that runs through the whole area is not a trail -- it's a decent road that's fine for any stock 4WD vehicle.

Entrance area. This is where our registration and facilities will be located.

Here's where we camped:

We checked out the trails on Sunday evening:

We were there on the night of the full moon. Here is the moon rise over the LaSalle mountains.

That night, the moon was so bright you could read by it. Below is a shot I took at 11:00 p.m. with no flash. There will also be a full moon during Cruise Moab 2010. It will be no problem finding your tent at midnight without a flashlight.

Our view from the campsite the next morning:

Here are some pictures of "the big area" which will be the main area for the event. This is where the big tent will go for the dinner and where the bonfire will be held every night.

Some more views of Area BFE:

The "Playground" where you can bash your rig against the big rocks:

We checked out some of the moderate trails. Here is the start of the Green Day trail.

Area BFE is right next to the Strike Ravine trail, which is an alternate route that runs to the town of Moab. There is a connecting trail from Area BFE with a bunch of fun shelf obstacles. We ran this back to Moab. Here are a few pics. (We had non-stop grins).

Hope this makes you interested in Cruise Moab 2010 -- we can't wait to get back there!
